Cricket Helmets

Kookaburra cricket helmets have been ergonomically designed and developed specifically for cricket, to comply with both the Australian Protective Standards and the AS/NZS 449.3:1997 Standard.  The cricket helmet range offers players of all levels exceptional comfort, visibility, impact protection and reassurance when out in the middle.

The cricket helmet range for 2015/16 includes four new models offering a number of features, including:

FACEGUARD - Engineered and constructed for new cricket season, Kookaburra’s all new faceguard is specifically designed to comply with all Australian Protective Standards and available in either reinforced titanium, reinforced steel or reinforced powder coated steel. Reinforced titanium offers significant weight saving and reduces the overall weight in comparison to a standard helmet, whilst preserving exceptional safety levels.

AIRFLOW VENTS – Air vents are strategically positioned in the outer shell and interior lining of the cricket helmet which combined with interior airflow channels wick sweat and heat away from the player, keeping them cool while out in the middle.

COMFORT FIT – A new adjustment pad option for the inside of the helmet with two sizes provided to ensure the perfect fit while batting or keeping upto the stumps.

KCS BELT - ‘Kookaburra Custom Sizing’ belt allows players to quickly and easily adjust the fit of their helmet to maximise fit, comfort and overall protection.  The KCS DIAL system is available on entry models and offers players a dial alternative to adjusted their helmet.

MAG-LOCK  - New for 2015, is a revolutionary new fastening system utilising magnetic technology to enable the buckle to be easily fastened and unlocked, even while wearing batting gloves or inners.

The cricket helmet shell has a new ergonomically designed shape, made out of an ultra lightweight carbon composite with unique polymer lining that dissipates shock across the majority of models.  The entry model, Pro 600, uses a durable outer shell casing.

The Kookaburra cricket helmet range is available in a choice of four ‘PRO PREFERRED’ cloth covering: Navy, Bottle Green, Maroon & Black and four helmet sizes, Small (54 - 56cm), Medium (56 - 58cm), Large (58 - 60cm) or Extra Large XL (60 - 62cm).

Whatever cricket helmet you decide, Kookaburra always recommends that you try on the helmet prior to purchase to maximise fit, comfort  and visibility.

Ensure that your cricket helmet is fitted correctly, as it should fit firmly on the head with the chin strap securely fitted.  The chin strap must fit on the cricketers chin not under it and nor worn loosely.  There should be no front-to-back or side-to-side movement of a players head inside the helmet; it should fit firm but comfortably on the head.

Once a player is comfortable with the fit of the cricket helmet, get into a batting stance position and ensure the FACEGUARD does not obstruct the line of sight “of a bowler coming into bowl”.  While instore trying on the helmet, play a few shots and make sure it feels right before using out in the middle.
