How to perform the “Tomahawk”

Liam De Youngs Tomahawk Tips!

  1. On a stationary shot I prefer to hit the ball off the front foot.  When on the run I will hit the Tomahawk off the back foot.
  2. Stationary:  Try to mirror the action of the forestick shot on the reverse side. i.e. ball slightly in front of right foot, weight on the front foot.
  3. A low angle of backswing and particularly follow through is a key to keeping it flat.
  4. On the run:  It can be more practical to hit the running tomahawk off the back foot as trying to hit off the right leg can halt any momentum.  Rather than the momentum of the body going towards the goal the players weight may be going away from goal.
